Pete Rose

Pete Rose, who was also known as “Charlie Hustle,” famously played for the Cincinnati Reds and won three World Series championships. He holds several MLB records, including the all-time leader in hits (4,256) and games played (3,562). He was a 17-time All-Star and won the MVP and two Gold Gloves.

In 1989, he was notoriously banned from the MLB after gambling on games. He recently died at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada in September 2024 at the age of 83.

According to a Nevada Coroner, Pete Rose passed away due to natural causes linked to high blood pressure and arterial hardening, as verified by HollywoodUnlocked.com. Diabetes was also believed to have played a role in the former MLB star’s death.

“Hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease with a significant condition of diabetes mellitus,” Coroner Melanie Rouse said.

Rose had undergone three heart procedures in five years and was on blood thinners at the time of his death.
Passed Away at 83
Rose passed away at home in Las Vegas at age 83, shortly after reuniting with his Cincinnati Reds teammates.
An Astounding Career
Over his 24-season MLB career, primarily with the Reds, Rose amassed more than 4,200 hits, was selected to the All-Star Game 17 times, and won three World Series championships.
Manager of the Cincinnati Reds
After retiring as a player, Rose went on to become the manager of the Cincinnati Reds.
Record Holder
Rose holds the record for the most hits in MLB history but was banned for life in 1989 for betting on games.
Ineligible
Rose’s betting ultimately made him ineligible for the Hall of Fame.
